Maintain Better Order

A change to our schedule – we WILL meet next week. Mrs. Gyurek will supervise. The following week we are off due to Thanksgiving, and will pick up on November 30th.

I’ve been thinking about how to maintain better order. For example, for some reason (the nice weather today?), the group lost focus towards the last 15 minutes today. Many were goofing off (running around, crawling on the floor, throwing things) – not doing what they should be doing, which is:

1. Playing a game
2. Watching a game
3. Working on chess (reading, doing a chess puzzle, etc.)

So, to keep better order, and encourage focus, I’m going to use a “3-strikes” policy. Any misbehavior (including bad sportsmanship) earns a strike. There is no consequence for the first (it’s like a warning). The second is recorded on the blog. If you get three strikes, you are suspended for one meeting. The strikes reset each meeting, so you start fresh.

Anyway, I hope this doesn’t sound too draconian – the group is a fun group, and respectful, and I know that we will continue to enjoy chess together!
